Amber Fort is located in Amer (a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi)), 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, Rajasthan state, India. It is one of the principal tourist attractions in the Jaipur area, located high on a hill. Anber Fort Was Built By  Raja Man Singh I. Amber Fort is known for its artistic style, blending both Hindu and Rajput elements. With its large ramparts, series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks the Maota Lake, at its forefront.

The Amber Fort was built by ‘Raja Shri Maan Singh JI Saheb’ (Maan Singh I) (December 21, 1550 – July 6, 1614) in 16th century. Man Singh, one of the first war chiefs or the trusted general of the Emperor Akbar. Akbar included him among the ‘Navaratnas’, or the 9 (nava) gems (ratna) of the royal court. Man Singh began the construction of a fortress-palace of white and red sandstone i.e. Amber Fort in 1592. He was the Kacchwaha (Rajput) of King of Amber, a state later known as Jaipur. Nearby he ordered to set a small temple devoted to ‘Sheela Mata’, his patron goddess.

Diwaan-e-Aam and Diwaan-e-Khaas

Diwan-e-Aam or the ‘Hall of Public Audience’ is a beautiful hall stands on two rows of ornamented pillars and opens on three sides. It is said that king used to listen about needs and complaints of General public. ‘Diwan e-Khaas’ or the ‘Hall of Private Audience’ has delicate mosaic work in glass. In this hall, king used to meet special guests from other states, ministers, and his friends.

Sukh Niwaas (Sukh Mandir)

Sukh Niwaas, which is opposite to ‘Diwaan-e-Khaas’ having doors made of sandal wood and ivory. There is a channel running through the hall, which carried cool water that worked as an air cooler, with the aid of breeze. In this artistic hall cool climate was artificially created. It is said that the kings used to spend time in this Sukh Niwaas with their queens and sometimes with their mistresses that is why it is known as the residence of pleasure or pleasurable residence in English.

Sheesh Mahal

The Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) is the most famous and beautiful part of Amber Fort. You must remember the song of the famous bollywood Classic Film ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ i.e. “pyaar kiya toh darna kya”, yes, it was shot in Sheesh Mahal. That song filmed beautifully but the all credit goes to the beauty of Sheesh mahal. The Walls and ceiling of this hall is carved with beautiful paintings and flowers and that too made with pure glass. The reason behind why this hall was made by glass because in ancient days the queen was not allowed to sleep in open air but she loved to see the stars shining. So the king ordered his architects to make something which could solve the purpose. The most stunning thing about this hall is that if someone burns two candles, then the reflection converts that small light into thousand of stars.

Nishan Parade at Amber Fort

October 17, 2019 by netpro Leave a Comment

The Maharaja Sawai Man Singh was the first colonel and commanding officer of the battalion of Nishan Parade. The Nishan ceremony began with nishan (symbol) puja, followed by nishan parade, the traditional nishan puja and is concluded with nishan vidai. The factual anniversary of the Nishan parade falls on September 1.

According to Pankaj Dharendra, superintendent, Amber Development and Management Authority, “The 17th battalion of the Rajputana Rifles is a direct descendant of the erstwhile Jaipur State Forces unit. And historically the unit was recognized under the aegis of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh on September 1, 1934 and he was entrusted with the responsibility of carrying the state flag, also called the Sawai Man flag.”

The spectacular ‘Nishan Parade’ that took place at Jaleb Chowk after 78 years will go down in the annals of history as the second big event for the 17th Battalion of Rajputana Rifles and the Amber Fort. Since the 17th battalion of the Rajputana Rifles is connected with the Jaipur royal family, it was a matter of great pride and honour to be a part of this ceremony. An Army battalion got back its deity after 70 long years when 17 Rajputana Rifles or the former Sawai Man Battalion conducted a “hawan” at the Shila Mata temple at the Amber Fort near here on Saturday.

The serving officers as well as veterans of the infantry battalion, which is fondly referred to as “Sawai Man Guards” after the army of the former rulers of Jaipur, felt proud to be part of an ancient legacy inherited from the erstwhile kingdom. On this auspicious occasion, the colours of the former Jaipur State and of the battalion were brought in a parade by a military guard. The head priest of the historic Shila Mata temple at the fort blessed the flags carrying out the traditional rites and rituals. The atmosphere reverberated with mantras and salutation of the unit in support of the gallant past and prodigious bonding of the veterans and valiant serving soldiers. The event was a visual treat for tourists and citizens of Jaipur alike.

Best 20 Travelers View From Different 20 Countries About Amber Fort

October 17, 2019 by netpro Leave a Comment

Best 20 Travelers Reviews From Different 20 Countries

Yasand Tim from Melbourne: This sight is amazing!! The palace is beautiful and the views of the other forts on the hills surrounding are stunning. Definately worth the trip out to see it.

Akriwun from Bangkok: Easy to do and appreciate if you have a guide and are reasonably fit – there are quite a lot of stairs. Incredible vistas of the surrounding hills and valley

Juaan from Scotland: This was a fantastic place to visit. Impressive and amazing but I do regret taking the elephant ride and will not do it again – the elephant ride definitely dulled the experience of the fort. We saw several mahouts carrying a spike/hook type thing which caused us alarm and whilst we are not experts on elephants we did feel sorry for them.

Cheezypuf from Dublin: Our journey to the Amber Fort started with an elephant ride up the steep hill leading to the entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed the ride, but were inundated by hawkers trying to sell us everything from rugs to ornaments to photos of ourselves. Once inside the main entrance we dismounted the elephant and paid in. We bought a combo ticket for 300 rupees which includes the wind palace, Albert Museum and a couple of other places. It’s better value than paying the admission to the Amber fort alone which is 200 rupees.

Ketheren from France: The fort and buildings were beautiful. We didn’t follow the crowd and found some of the best bits by exploring promising looking doorways and stair cases. We were expected to tip pretty much everyone we saw, even including the army guards and cleaners. The constant demands for money got a bit wearing. My advice would be to take your time and a bottle of water and to be polite but firm with the hawkers and you’ll enjoy the fort.

Sokuvale from Uk: This place used to be the capital of the Kachhwaha clan until 1727 when Jaipur was made the official capital. Construction was started in the middle of the 16th century by Raja Man Singh I and it is built in white marble and red sandstone. It is more than just a fort and palace. It seems like a small city because of the sheer size of the place. One will spend the better part of a day just walking around the inside of this structure. An added attraction to one’s visit here is the elephant ride.

Dedel from California : This is the top attraction in Jaipur and your trip to Jaipur will not be considered complete unless you visit the Amer Fort which is located on the outskirts of Jaipur. At the outset, let me inform you that the best part of the fort is the Sound and Light Show which happens every evening at 5:30pm (Hindi) and 6:30pm (English). Please enquire about the timings as they may change from time to time. If I remember correctly the ticket cost is Rs.250 per person. This beautiful sound and light show gives you the history of the Amer Fort right from the time it was built to the time the last of the Rajput Kings lived in the fort. The show is very informative from thehistorical perspective, is well scripted and the sound and light is co-ordinated very well. Full marks to the government of Rajasthan (tourism department) for putting up a world class show which we can be really proud of, I could hear the firangi foreigners cooing in delight at the end of the show.

Sohajul from US: To visit the fort you need to take the car up the hill (there is parking on top) and enter from the back gate or you can go up the main entrance of the fort on Elephant Back. This fort was depicted in Jodha Akbar as well as Hum Saath Saath Hain and both the movies show entry through the main entrance either on Horseback of elephant back. If you take the car route, when you get off make sure you are not eating anything as there are monkeys all around who will come and snatch anything edible from your hand.

Smith from England: The fort is marvelous and I have never seen such incredible fort before. The Amber Fort-The old capital of the Kachhwahas stands atop a range of craggy hills. The fort is remarkable as much for the majestic grandeur of its surroundings as for its sturdy battlements and beautiful palaces. The Hall of Public Audience is a beautifully proportioned hall open on three sides and stands on two rows of ornamented pillars. Diwan e-Khas or the Hall of Private Audience has delicate mosaic work in glass. Sukh mandir is guarded by sandalwood doors inlaid with ivory. Throughout the massive fort finely carved lattice windows, exquisitely painted doorways, halls and finely sculptured pillars crave for attention. The old city of Amer was the seat of power and bustling with life and prosperity.

Lia from Thailand: BEAUTIFUL & AMAZING. I were stunned!!! Amber fort is a must visit place in jaipur. Take time to visit this beautiful place. Need atleast one full day and take your time, you will discover the beautiful architecture. Sad i didnt know much about the place and since we were visiting jaipur for a day trip so our time were really limited here at Amber fort.

Leizibith from China says: I loved it. The huge darwazaa’s (doors) and rooms that were once ladened with beautiful interiors, were once bedrooms of the many queens of past. One can also relax and sip coffee or enjoy the lovely food served at one of the restaurants in the fort.

Satyaraaz from Sri Lanka says: Amer fort known as Amber Fort is a 16th century built fort is a blend of a hindu and mughul architecture. Thus within mighty walls the charming gardens and magnificent palaces made from marble and precious stones. The royal elephant ride is additional attraction for tourist. Awesome place

The show is very informative from the historical perspective, is well scripted and the sound and light is co-ordinated very well.

Frieol from Germany says: awesome place in Rajasthan one should must visit while visiting India.
